Battery degradation is the single biggest hidden risk in a used electric vehicle — completely invisible without specialist testing. Our AVILOO certified battery health check gives you an official State of Health report, whether you are buying a used EV or checking before your warranty expires.
AVILOO is the globally recognised standard for independent EV battery health certification. It is used by manufacturers, dealers, insurers and fleet operators across Europe and Australia to objectively measure and certify battery condition.
The AVILOO Flash Test connects to the vehicle OBD port and uses a proprietary algorithm — trained on millions of real-world EV data points — to calculate a precise State of Health (SoH) percentage. This is the same metric vehicle manufacturers use internally, now available as an independent third-party certificate.
Unlike a simple OBD code read, AVILOO analyses cell voltage balance, thermal data, BMS status and charge/discharge characteristics to produce a result that reflects true battery condition.

State of Health (SoH) is the definitive measure of how much usable battery capacity remains compared to when the vehicle was new. It directly determines real-world range — a car showing 80% SoH has lost 20% of its original range, potentially 60–80km less per charge.
In Australia's hot climate, EV battery degradation can progress faster than manufacturer estimates. Most EVs retain 80–90% SoH after 5 years under normal use, but vehicles that have been charged heavily on DC fast chargers, parked in heat, or heavily used can show significantly lower numbers.
Without an AVILOO test, this degradation is completely invisible. The car may drive normally and show a full charge bar — yet deliver far less range than when it was new.
💡 How long do EV batteries last in Australia? Most manufacturers warrant the battery to 70% SoH for 8 years or 160,000km. An AVILOO test tells you exactly where the battery sits today — and whether a warranty claim may be valid before your warranty expires.
A used EV with hidden battery degradation can cost $15,000–$40,000 in replacement costs. A $385 AVILOO inspection is cheap insurance.
A used EV can look and drive perfectly while its battery has lost 20–30% capacity. A standard visual inspection or test drive cannot detect this. Only an AVILOO battery health check can.
EV battery replacement in Australia typically costs $15,000–$40,000 depending on vehicle make and battery size. Knowing the battery SoH before purchase gives you real negotiating power — or a reason to walk away.
Many sellers quote the vehicle displayed range without knowing the battery actual SoH. A 2019 Nissan Leaf rated at 270km WLTP may only deliver 200km in real conditions. Our AVILOO test documents the real number.
An official AVILOO EV battery certificate plus our full JPI inspection report, delivered within 2 hours.
AVILOO battery report — energy, range and cell diagnostic data
Every AVILOO battery test produces an official certified report covering the battery complete technical health profile. Combined with our full JPI inspection report, you have everything needed to make or renegotiate a purchase decision.
Most EV manufacturers warrant the battery to retain at least 70–80% SoH for 8 years or 160,000km. If your vehicle is approaching this threshold, an AVILOO inspection before the warranty expires gives you documented evidence to lodge a claim.
Do not let the warranty expire without checking. If the battery has degraded below the manufacturer threshold, you may be entitled to a full replacement at no cost.
