Thinking about extended cover after the manufacturer's warranty ends? Here's how mechanical breakdown warranties actually work in Australia — what they cover, what they don't, how claims are handled, and indicative pricing for the products we can arrange.
Call 0416 555 557An extended car warranty — more accurately a mechanical breakdown warranty — is a paid product that contributes towards the cost of repairing or replacing certain covered components if they suddenly and unexpectedly fail. It picks up where the manufacturer's factory warranty leaves off.
It is not a service plan and it is not a repair-everything guarantee. Cover applies to a defined list of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, up to set claim limits, and only for sudden and unexpected breakdowns — not for parts that simply wear out over time.
Pays towards repair or replacement of listed components that suffer a sudden, unexpected mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown.
Repairs can be carried out through a national network of approved repairers, wherever you break down in Australia.
Many warranties can transfer to a new owner within a set period when you sell, which can support resale value.
Whether an extended warranty is right for you depends on your vehicle, budget and circumstances. That's your decision to make — the points below are factual things to read and weigh up.
The Integrity products below (Endurance and Absolute) are discretionary risk products. That means the issuer considers each claim on its merits and decides whether to contribute, rather than indemnifying you the way an insurance policy would. The issuers hold an Australian Financial Services Licence and state they will not exercise that discretion unfairly or unconscionably, but it is a different legal mechanism to insurance. The Auto Auto Australia product administered by AWN is likewise a discretionary mechanical breakdown product, not insurance.
Each covered component has a maximum claim limit. If a repair costs more than the limit for that component, you may need to cover the shortfall. Higher cover levels carry higher limits.
Servicing on time, by a licensed workshop, with records kept, is a condition of every product here. Exceeding a service interval by more than 30 days or 1,000 km can make the warranty inactive until it is reactivated.
Integrity Car Care Pty Ltd (ABN 58 056 621 893, AFSL 247069) has issued vehicle warranties since 1992. It offers two discretionary warranty products with different coverage structures — Endurance and Absolute — so you can match the cover to the vehicle.

The process is similar across these products. The key rule: contact the warranty provider and get authorisation before any repair work starts.
Confirm the failed part is a listed/covered component and not an excluded part or event.
Call the provider for the nearest approved repairer before authorising any work.
Authorise the repairer to diagnose the fault. Diagnostic costs are your responsibility unless accepted as part of an approved claim.
The repairer submits parts, labour and cost. Integrity aims to assess within 24 hours of receiving complete information (AWN within their stated timeframes); an inspection may be required.
If approved, the provider issues an authorisation number and pays the approved amount directly to the repairer. You cover any shortfall above the claim limit.
We'll walk you through the options, confirm eligibility and give you an indicative price — no obligation. You decide what's right for you.
